What Does God Say About The Dead
So back in the days before I was a believer, I was God's spiritual nightmare to contend with I'm sure but He never gave up on me! It's kind of funny that as a kid at the age of about 10 I chose to be baptized thinking I wanted to believe in God. But this experience is actually knowing God and a working relationship. Back then I realize it was more because my best friend at the time was a Christian and I enjoyed going to church etc. If I am to be honest I never knew God. The older I got it was more of there is a Creator; a superior being but not my Abba of today. I was in and out of "prayer" with God but more like empty words....but He heard them none the less and I am so amazed at things in my life that happened even though my heart wasn't His yet.
Any how later in life, my early 30's and 3 kids later, I used to visit a shop in Saratoga Springs that was a mystic store. The metaphysical world is centered around items such as crystals, angel cards, Reiki kits, candles, and so on. These items are typically related to spirituality, magic, and mysticism. A big no no in the Bible; we will discuss that in a bit. I can look back and see it most definitely changed the course of my family and marriage; not for the better. I won't bore you with the details but feel to message if you would like to know more. Anyhow, I actually bought books about witchcraft, tarot cards, a pendulum, and so much more. Casting spells I considered to be like prayers etched on candles. Time passed and my father too had past. I remember asking him to give me a sign while I was in a graveyard; I opened my eyes to a feather next to me sticking straight up out of the ground. Not laying down and could hardly be missed. I had my book on symbols and it described the feather symbolizing the spirit realm and further I think it had something along the lines of, not kidding, take the e out and you have father. I was elated as you can guess!!! My daughter was in kindergarten when he died and she was so sad he would miss her graduation. I told her to ask him to send her a sign (she knew about my feathers) and get to the bus stop before she missed it! A few minutes went by and my daughter came inside squealing in delight that her grampa sent her feathers too! They were on the front lawn. Through out the years we received many a feather to the point that a friend of mine at a restaurant I co-owned yelled for an employee not to touch a feather on the floor because it was the very anniversary my dad had died and there was the feather!
Even being a believer I still was talking about signs from our loved ones; until I read more of my Bible. Never again will I be asking for a feather or telling people to look for a sign from their loved ones.
Why You Ask?
