The parable of the farmer sowing his seeds, Luke 8:4-15, a new perspective.
"While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable:5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up.6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture.7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants.8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”
Most, including myself, read this as how we receive God's word. Are we the seed that hears the word but loses it as quickly as we heard it? Or the seed that hears and accepts what we hear but as soon as troubles come our way we forget about it? Or the one who hears it but struggles with thoughts of earthly desires...what do I have to lose following Christ instead of viewing all they have to gain following Christ? Or lastly, the one who hears the word, works at it, perseveres and is fruitful?
First, I think almost every Christian probably went through these many levels and hopefully the majority have planted in the last category and there to stay. But here's another perspective, what if through our maturity as a Christian we become the farmer? To me the farmer was a bit messy and careless with his seeds. Dropping them in different places along his way where clearly they couldn't grow. As a disciple we are to hear and heed God's word and share to be fruitful and bring forth a harvest. However, I would like to state I did not EVER think Jesus is a sloppy farmer. I only mean as we put ourselves into the story.
We as the farmer sharing the word and if a person is receptive be sure to help them take root; don't leave them to fend for themselves or their new faith may wither and die.
And help those see earthly matters versus the Kingdom of God. Discuss God's will vs. our will and submitting to His will makes us the best version of ourself through the transformation of the Holy Spirit. God creates a masterpiece in us. Do not twist God's word to make the people ok with their sin and lead them a stray. No words of false comfort just straight God's word.
Be the farmer with the seeds in rich fertile soil, truth and love. Guide the person with Jesus words so they know to have a relationship with Him, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. That reading God's word is not reading a book of fables or a novel. It is historical fact; yet it is also when we dive in for ourselves, it is God's conversation with us. Messages just for us. But that has to be learned and that comes with relationship.
With an open heart and an open mind Jesus words will make that person fruitful in their own lives, making us fruitful in our own lives and the seasons continue.
Just "seeds" for thought!

Gives me much to ponder thank you so much
